The table below shows standard classes of an ordinary term. The classes may be changed during a certain term depending on the enrollment of international students.
Eligibility, Screening Test |
General Course | (1) International students of the University of Tokyo (2) Foreign researchers (3) Spouses of international students and researchers *(2) and (3) are only accepted when there is enough space. *(3) are not allowed to enroll in Level 4, Level 5 and Intermediate Japanese for Communication) *There is no screening test except for "Intermediate Japanese for Communication". *The applicants will be assigned to the level of their choice on a first-come-first-served basis. |

Characteristics | The most basic course for international students and foreign researchers at the University of Tokyo. The course includes general classes taught at different levels ranging from elementary to advanced, and classes focused on specific skill areas, such as kanji and intermediate conversation. |
